Students and Faculty members from the College of Agriculture and Agri-Industries (CAA) of Caraga State University (CSU) attended the 12th Federation of Agriculture Students in Mindanao (FASMIN) Congress held from Jan. 28 – Feb. 1, 2019 at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) – Claveria Campus, Claveria, Misamis Oriental. The said congress is an annual gathering of students in Agriculture and allied fields from different universities and colleges to keep them abreast with local and regional issues and development trends in agriculture. "It’s an annual Olympics of skills for agricultural students," according to Dr. Eric Randy Politud, head of organizing committee of the 12th FASMIN Congress (source: www.sunstar.com.ph). This year's FASMIN was anchored in the theme: "Ensuring Quality Standards in Agri-preneurial Innovations: A Game-changer to Sustain Global Market."
The following table shows the final rankings during the said congress. The ranking of CSU obtained during the congress was due to the combined efforts of the student competitors and their respective faculty coaches (you may also read https://caagri.weebly.com/news--events/caa-students-bags-award-in-the-12th-fasmin-congress for full details).
“It’s high time that the College should train and give its full support to its students for this kind of event”, said Dr. Parac. The next FASMin Congress was announced to be held at Central Mindanao University (CMU), Musuan, Bukidnon in November this year. NMBorines |
